We suggest you print out this page before you install the demo version of Investigations with Omnigraph. It contains explanations as to how to use it. The demo version allows you to use just a few of over 200 Investigations that come in the full package.

What you need
To use the Interactive Investigations you need Omnigraph for Windows version 2.1. If you do not have Omnigraph for Windows v2.1, click here to download the demo version. Alternatively, click here to purchase and download the real version 2.1 now, online!

How to install the software

Click on InvDemo.exe (0.7 MB) to begin downloading the demo.

1. After you have downloaded the file, find it using Windows Explorer or "My Computer". The downloaded file is self extracting, made up of all the files that are needed to install the software. First you need to extract these files.
   
   
2. Double click your left mouse button on the downloaded filename in Windows Explorer or "My Computer". An option box will appear. The options are all set to reasonable defaults and you will normally not need to change them. Click on the Extract button.
   
   
3. Now you need to install the software itself. To do this run the extracted file SETUP.EXE, normally found in C:\TEMP\DISK1. You can run this file by double clicking on its name in Explorer or My Computer. The software will tell you where it is being installed.
   
   
4. Once the software has been installed, you may wish to 'tidy up' by deleting the original downloaded file and the installation files. These files are not needed to run the software.
   
   
5. To remove the demonstration software from your system, use Add/Remove programs in the Windows control panel.
   
   
6. Once you have installed the program, you can use the Help to introduce you to its features and how to use it.

Using the Interactive Investigations demo
Start up the investigations by double clicking on the newly created program icon, or by selecting the Start button, then Programs, then Spa Software and finally Investigations with Omnigraph demo.

The Investigations should automatically start up Omnigraph for you. We suggest you start by selecting Advice, which gives advice to the teacher (the demo version is a cut-down version of the Teacher's Guide part of the Investigations.)

There are investigations on four separate areas of mathematics, listed on the opening screen. In each area the demo contains just the first set from the very many investigations that are included with the full version. Because it is the first set, these tend to be on simpler topics than the later investigations; we hope that they will be sufficient for you to get the flavour of the complete package.
