writeon for windows COL

We suggest you print out this page before you install the evaluation (demo) version of WriteOn for Windows. It contains explanations as to how to use it. The demo version is a full working version of the actual software, but allows only 30 days of use.
WriteOn for Windows and its demo will run in Windows 3.1 or later.

How to install the software

Click on wowdemo.exe (1.8 MB) to begin downloading the demo.

  1. After you have downloaded the file, find it using Windows Explorer or "My Computer". The downloaded file is self extracting, made up of all the files that are needed to install the software. First you need to extract these files.

  2. Double click your left mouse button on the downloaded filename in Windows Explorer or "My Computer". An option box will appear. The options are all set to reasonable defaults and you will normally not need to change them. Click on the Extract button.

  3. Now you need to install the software itself. To do this run the extracted file SETUP.EXE, normally found in C:\TEMP\DISK1. You can run this file by double clicking on its name in Explorer etc. The software will tell you where it is being installed.

  4. Once the software has been installed, you may wish to 'tidy up' by deleting the original downloaded file and the installation files. These files are not needed to run the software.

  5. Start up the software by double clicking on the newly created program icon.

  6. To remove the WriteOn for Windows demonstration from your system, use the uninstall program provided.

If you read nothing else, read this!

Once you have installed WriteOn for Windows, open the Help by pressing F1 and read the Introduction section. That will introduce you to the features of WriteOn and how to use it. Note that WriteOn for Windows gives children over 1000 pictures to use in their writing, and over 1000 entries in the word and picture banks. To make the demonstration more manageable, we have only included a small selection of these items.
