WriteOn for Windows, and its predecessors WriteOn
Plus and WriteOn, have set the standard in children's word processors that
others have followed. "WriteOn fills the word processing gap perfectly"
said the TES. "WriteOn Plus is an exciting, compelling piece of word
processing software that would inspire any writer" enthused Junior
Education. |

WriteOn for Windows
retains all the best features of its predecessors, and adds lots more.
Beginners can use a very simple screen with large letters and an uncluttered
appearance. And pupils can gently have access to more advanced features as they
get more confident, with four different levels of options. But WriteOn for
Windows gives children (and teachers) just about everything you could want in a
word processor. It can act as a whole word processor (with optional pictures);
it can speak with 20 different voices (English, not American); it records the
words that children misspell; it is highly configurable, and much more.

 Working at Level
4 |
|
The program comes with a highly
praised spell-checker especially designed for children. You can choose between
a Beginner's and an Advanced dictionary. And the spell-checker can speak the
suggested words (on their own or in the sentence) so that children can hear
which word fits.
As beginners progress
they can use more advanced features, by choosing one of the four available
levels. For example, you can introduce the use of buttons with icons at
level 2; at level 3
you may wish to get children to use a simple ruler with margins and tabs, until
at level 4 they can be given almost all the
features they will meet in professional word processing. But you can configure
each level to do exactly what you think is most appropriate for your
children. |
